Most people are aware of what kind of work is performed at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, but few have experienced it firsthand. “A Future Shared” examines the families and individuals who have experienced the kind of transplantation breakthroughs that Fred Hutch is world-renowned for. This video was created for the annual Fred Hutch Gala fundraiser event, and to pay tribute to the late Nobel Laureate, Dr. Don Thomas, who pioneered bone marrow transplantation during his time at Fred Hutch (a discovery that continues to save lives every day). The video charts and celebrates the trajectory of bone marrow research—from its humble beginning to our one-millionth bone marrow transplantation this year. This is a monumental accomplishment, but private funding is what makes this possible, so we must continue to spread the word. Heartbreaking, inspirational, uplifting, but above all: real. These are real stories told by real people and they are impossible to ignore.
We weren’t the only ones who thought so, because over $4 million was raised that night.
