Where I See Myself in 5 Years:
I’ve made it a habit to only plan out my life two or three years in advance. It keeps me focused on my immediate goals and accomplishing them, while also allowing myself to be flexible with whatever comes my way! With that being said, I prefer any job that grants me the opportunity to enjoy writing in all of its forms. I also have a knack for good captions and short quips so any work that allows me to be sarcastic is a win in my book.
What I learned:
The PR team has definitely taught me the importance of brevity. Over time I found myself wondering how I could say what I needed to say in fewer words and more effectively. The team showed me that there is almost always a way to get your point/idea across in a more succinct fashion without skimping out on delivery.
Favorite GR Project or Memory:
As corny as it sounds, I really did love everyday at GreenRubino. Any given day in the office brought a new lesson and I loved that the PR team was always happy to include me in meetings and projects.
Apart from that, I’m still reeling from shock that Tracy had Solange as a neighbor and even met her—jealous is an understatement.
Advice for Future Interns:
- Never be afraid to ask questions.
The PR team is a super helpful bunch, and they appreciate your interest and willingness to learn. Also, asking a simple question instead of sweating in your seat for 20 minutes trying to find the answer is a lot more time efficient.
- Get out of your cubicle and socialize.
Getting to know the people around the office makes work life 1000 times better (I wasn’t a math major but that sounds about right). Not only do you get to interact with the characters of the office, but they all come with a plethora of knowledge that you’ll never get to access unless you speak up.
- Never take edits, revisions, and feedback to heart.
I’m as sensitive about my writing as you can get, but I learned that whenever I got feedback on how to write something better, it was always an opportunity to grow and learn. I can say with confidence that every edit and suggestion has only made me a better writer and effective communicator.
PS: Meet the Account Coordinator!
I’m ecstatic to be able to join the GreenRubino team as an Account Coordinator! The two and a half months I spent as an intern introduced me to new challenges and knowledge, and I’m humbled that I can continue to learn and grow with the fast-paced and fabulous GRPR team.
