We’ve been Columbia Bank’s agency since before they opened their doors almost 20 years ago. But it’s their customers who best tell the true story of this down-to-earth, community bank. So we came up with an iconic blue couch for them to get comfy on and tell their stories in some unexpected locations. From a livestock auctioneering yard in Eastern Washington, to Oregon’s spectacular Smith Rock, to a luxury boat-building plant in Tacoma, the blue couch hosted customers singing the praises of the bank many of them think of as part of their family. Unscripted and un-slick, these real-life customers and the electric blue couch have been an unbeatable combination. The couch has become a symbol and a strong brand association for the bank—maybe even a metaphor for the personal connections and comfortable service that have fallen by the wayside at many larger banks. But not here. Ever the forward-thinking community bank, Columbia Bank wanted to develop a strong voice that reflected the wit and welcoming nature of their friendly face bankers. So we did that. The fully integrated campaign (TV, radio, print, web, PR) is a shiny blue example of what community banking is about. And boosting business and brand for our longest–standing client is always nice.
