On some branding projects, function is more important than form. When the Microsoft IT organization opened Microsoft Tech Link, a walk-in center to help employees resolve computer issues, they turned to GreenRubino to create a unique, branded space. Microsoft Tech Link centers are friendly, open places where employees can hand over their computers to technical experts and either work on another machine or relax while it’s being fixed. The challenge was that most Tech Link centers are located in open areas on campus such as cafes and common areas. Working closely with the architects, GreenRubino created a branded environment that, while definitely unique, still mapped back to the overall Microsoft IT brand. As part of the scope of work, we created usage guidelines, oversaw installation and consulted on items ranging from signage to collateral to staff wardrobe. The original test site was so successful that the concept was rolled out to other Microsoft locations worldwide, and we worked with regional offices to extend the overall design to meet unique requirements in multiple locations.
